Competencies
I have chosen two sets of professional competencies to evaluate my professional experience against. One set from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and also competencies from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). There are other professional institutions related to the construction industry which could have been used, such as; The Association of Project Safety (APS) for health and safety competencies, Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). CIOB Competencies
I have chosen to use the CIOB Professional Development Programme competencies which is the first stage to full professional membership into the CIOB after graduation from university. As it is the first stage of full professional membership the competencies are basic fundamental skills required for any construction professional in the industry not only in my profession as a project manager. The CIOB professional competencies I have chosen to cover and evidence in my matrix are;
