Estates Development and Sustainability
Estates Development and Sustainability is part of the Facilities Directorate. Within the estates development and sustainability department there are six teams (see structure below) the team I work within is the project management team. My role as assistant project manager requires me to work collaboratively with others from different in house teams as well as external consultants to deliver projects. The project manager acts as the focal point for all project work and must organize and coordinate people from other teams to deliver tasks as and when they are required.
Project Management Section
The project management team compromises of project managers of varying experience and logistics section who assist the projects managers with logistics of relocation's and the specification of new furniture for projects (see structure below, with my role highlighted in red)
Assistant Project Manager
The role entails delivering university capital and long term maintenance projects of a value of £5k to £300k. Projects are required to enable the university to meet its operational, strategic and business needs. Project managers are assigned to a project at inception stage and are tasked with seeing projects through the various stages until completion and hand over to the end users whether it be SHU academic or professional staff.

- Defining scope of projects through liaising with multiple stakeholders and clients.
- Preparation of tender documentation and appointing of contractors and consultants.
- Monitoring performance of contractors and consultants for compliance with cost, time and quality standards.
